Notes on Musicians

Musicians and
Performance Experience

Every year a new group of talented young musicians is selected to perform in the American Wind Symphony Orchestra. Each musician is hand-picked during a national audition tour.

As orchestra members, these young musicians have the opportunity to perform challenging classical works as well as new compositions. Some have the opportuniity to play rare and exotic instruments. During the summer months, they tour the waterways of the United States and Europe, performing in concerts on a unique floating arts center, Point Counterpoint II.

AWSO Alumni

All in all it is an experience that has proven to be instrumental in the development of thousands of musicians over the past 52 years. Many AWSO alumni have gone on to become members of leading orchestras in the United States and beyond. Many alumni continue their musical studies and earn advanced degrees. They perform and teach music as faculty members at institutions of higher education.
